In Bangkok: No More Lonely Nights In Khaosan

The signature of Siam Paragon's waterfall photo wall
iam Paragon, the hallmark of a mall in the heart of Bangkok, validated its iconic status in our stop and shop.

With its multitude of world-class brands, gourmet format supermarket, a stylized food court with a choice of international cuisines, and the cascading fountain but then again it’s the convergence of multicultural shoppers that made it one of Asia's awesome shopping hotspots.

Pandora is one global brand with a headquarter in Thailand
Pandora's bangle cuffs with charm are a prized accessory.
Our intent was set on purchasing an item in Pandora which we heard has its central headquarter in Thailand. We were glad that we were given a discount from this renowned accessory brand. We took a couple of charms with a bangle that cost us more or less 4,000 baht, very agreeable.

Behold another adjacent mall - Central World
Chocolate-coated elephants are selfie delights
Infrastructure and park life merge with the high rise in this extension
Central World is just a casual walkway away from the BTS station providing a park spacious enough for a breather to an otherwise commercially saturated area. The elephant statues were very catchy and eye candy in one corner. Following the elevated walkways, the telescopic view of the main thoroughfare with converging vehicle procession could be overwhelming.

Bridge over the merging traffic near MBK.
The paradise for bargain hunters is situated further after crossing the overpass trailing our path from MBK mall to the inner recesses leading to the Baiyoke. A day was not enough to scour the whole area as bargain distractions were just endless. apart from the hustle of mass transports sprinkling an air of anticipation.

Khaosan greeted me with a band of tuk-tuk, motorcycles, and taxis
Tuk-tuk in action for farangs looking for short distance trip
Khaosan strip is about ready for its daily wave of revelers in the claws of twilight.
Furthermore way, we decided to quicken up our pace and took a ride to another territory and alighted in KFC just adjacent to Khaosan road or strip to meet somebody. A Filipina backpacker suddenly came chatting with us as she recognized our tongue. After some pleasantries and selfies, the lady left at her pace as we met our eyeballs who took us to Khaosan proper before twilight with the booming street of snorting tuk-tuk and those Western-formatted restaurants.

Thai -inspired restos are diners' finds and fancier in Khaosan
Vegetable stew  Thai style
Steamed fish with a lemony kick
There’s no discounting Khaosan as Bangkok's prime high street for travelers also coined as farangs seeking fun and indulgence in the Asian nightlife way. We immediately proceeded to this venue where music filled the air before we secured our seats. The band players were unmistakably Pinoy as they started doing rounds of songs and greetings. A glimpse of the bar scene in Bangkok was an endearing experience, especially tasting the finest Thai cuisine in a relaxed modest Thai-inspired setting.

Ambulant vendors filling Khaosan before dawn
Coconut ice cream is another of Khaosan novelties
Outside; the bars were already bustling with music or laughter with the street filled up with peddlers and enticing street foods like coconut ice cream, pad thai, and kebabs. Then for a true gastronomic challenge, there are those grilled beetles or scorpions. In between the rows are small backpackers' hotels, spas, massage parlors, open-air bars, and of course 711.

Khaosan fanfare by nightfall, bring in the spotlight and the spotified!
Eye candy colorful bag souvenirs on display
With nighttime turning ripe, Khaosan turned vigorous and action-packed with the lights and sounds from all over the rows of bars and commercialism. I guess third-world nightlife settings will always cater to the bar-chasing nature of first-worldliness. All races from Europeans to Americans to Koreans were making their moment of carnival portal in such a short strip of a road. The same story when we arrived back in the Sukhumvit section. More nightlife was in the making in districts of Nana to the stretch of Sukhumvit 11, and there's another at the Silom side. When in Bangkok therefore, may you never miss a thrill.
